Year 2020 has been rolling for four days at the moment this blog is written. Unlike years before, this year Jakarta welcomed the new year by raining non-stop for almost a whole day, which resulted (as you can guess) massive flood here and there. I am pretty lucky to live in the area that is not affected by the flood, unfortunately, that is not the case with some of my friends.
But let's rewind a bit to the new year eve aka 31 December 2019. It has been an annual event to have a car-free night across Jakarta's main road (Jenderal Sudirman and MH Thamrin road) with free entertainment and food stalls in some spots along to road. Initially, I was not interested to go to the event (I am in an unhealthy relationship with my bed when the clock strikes midnight), but my cousin texted me to go and voila! I said yes.
Luckily me and my cousin went to a shopping mall in the center of car-free night pretty early, around 4 PM. But since we were inside, we didn't know that it was raining like crazy outside. Around 7PM we get out of the shopping mall and headed to the Bundaran HI where the main stage is located. There weren't many people since it was raining, nevertheless, the show must go on and people were eager to spent the time to celebrate the new year.
I took some shots of the events, but please be aware that the shots are pretty... subpar. I don't think I did justice to the event or the festivity of night. Hence, here are some shots from the event.
